Clary Sage has been valued as a healing herb since antiquity.
The herb can be prepared into a tea infusion, or steeped in spirits, wine, or vinegar.
Carrier oils infused with the herb are used for a healing body massage, and for hair care.
Herbal infusions can also be used clean and calm irritated skin.
The herb has astringent and anti-microbial properties.
It's estrogenic, as well as anti-spasmodic properties have been traditionally used for treating female complaints.
It is also employed in cases of diarrhea, to stimulate digestion, and as a general tonic.
Habitat
Clary Sage is a biannual herb that thrives in full sun, in the Mediterranean climates of Central and Southern Europe.
It is an easily cultivated staple plant in herb and cloister gardens.
