The root contains bitter substances, which stimulate the production of saliva, gastric juices and bile. These in return stimulate liver and stomach activity.

For this property it has become an important ingredient of many traditional aperitifs, digestives, bitters and liqueur concoctions.

These are typically enjoyed before or after a meal, to support the general food digestion process.

Our dried Gentian roots have been harvested for us by a local mountain man, in the Ardennes Mountains in France, from 3 decades old Gentian plants growing in upper meadow fields. He carefully selects, digs up, dries and processes each plant himself, to ensure sustainable longevity of these beautiful natural fields, which he has tended to for over 30 years.
