Myrrh Gum is produced by harvesting the aromatic tree resin that excretes from cut bark of the Commiphora species, which is a tree native to desert areas in Arabia and Africa.
It does not grow in cultivation, and is always harvested from isolated, wild stands, making this a highly valued,precious botanical raw material.
Myrrh’s warm, earthy aroma has been implemented in religious ceremonies, temples and churches for thousands of years, to enhance spiritual experiences.
Coarsely ground Myrrh gum can be used in incense manufacture, or for it’s medicinal properties, such as an antiseptic ingredient in mouthwashes, tooth powders, liniments, extracts and herbal oils.
